Treatment Options
Vision treatment strategies may include the prescription of glasses for part time or full time wear, vision therapy or in some cases, a referral to another practitioner.
Vision Therapy
Vision therapy aims to improve a child's visual abilities through one or a combination of eye exercises, lenses, prisms or eye patching.
Tailored to the individual, vision therapy programs are used to overcome issues including:
- lazy eye
- eye alignment and coordination problems
- poor focus
- inadequate eye-hand coordination
For more information, please see Vision Therapy.
Glasses
Children's prescription glasses are built tough for an active lifestyle. Look for features such as flexible frames and shatter-resistant lenses. And with an increasing array of stylish options, children can feel good about wearing them.
At Urban Eyewear, we provide a wide variety of frames that are flexible and durable to suit you child's needs.
Contact Lenses
Contact lenses can be a practical option for children, providing them with the freedom to participate in sports and other activities whithout having their glasses get in the way. We take into account a child's maturity to handle contact lenses when reccomending this option. For more information about some of the different contact lenses we offer at Eyecare Plus please visit the " Contact Lens" page of our website or click here.
Another treatment option available for children is Ortho-K contact lenses. Orthokeratology is a lens modality which involves overnight wear of rigid contact lenses with the aim to limit the progression of short sightedness and provide relief from the need to wear glasses or contact lenses during the day. For more information about Ortho-K please visit the "Myopia Control" page of our website or click here. For Ortho-K success stories, click here. |
